Sorrel is a hibiscus flower that is used to make a popular beverage in Jamaica.

Recipe
2 cups of hibiscus flower petals 8 cups of water 2 cups of sugar (or sugar to taste) 1 medium sized ginger root (extracted) A few rice grains 2 oz white rum (optional)
- Boil the hibiscus flower petals in the water for 30 min and then let it sit for an hour to steep.
- Strain the hibiscus liquid in a large pot
- Add sugar to the hibiscus liquid
- Juice the ginger
- Add the ginger to the hibiscus liquid
- Add the rice grains to the hibsiscus liquid
- Add the white rum to the hibiscus liquid
